Topic Introduction:
Poverty is a universal problem. Poverty reduction, or poverty alleviation, is a set of measures, both economic and humanitarian, that are intended to permanently lift people out of poverty. The world organizations, the countries and people are fighting poverty in all its dimensions. This term of symposium we focus on the alternative approaches in poverty alleviation. We focus on: Alternative approaches of poverty alleviation in your country, mechanisms, result(consequences) and lessons; Urgent need of poverty alleviation in your country; Effectiveness of alternative aid programs in your country, such as world organization programs, national programs and bilateral programs.
These sharing will be very helpful to understand the world’s poverty situation, to understand the world better, we welcome all international friends to share your understanding of poverty reduction in your country.

3. 5-6 Speeches will be selected to present on the symposium based on the topic and analysis, each speech should be limited within 15 minutes, a supervisor and discussant will be designated to each speaker.

Introduction of the Symposium:
Understanding the World, the series of international academic activities, organized by School of Economics, consisting of International Symposium and Academic Roundtable Seminar. Those academic activities adhere to the concept of joint study and in-depth discussion, and provide a platform for faculties and students both at home and abroad for equal communication, mutual understanding and joint study. Till now, School of Economics has successfully held 10 activities on the platform which is playing a pivotal role to promote the international communication on campus.
